Aino Aalto Tableware

Aino Aalto was an architect and designer, a pioneer who became a role model for female designers all over the world, as she boldly helped revolutionize Finnish design. In 1924 she went to work for Alvar Aalto, the two fell in love and married. Together they collaborated on many projects and founded Artek (1935), a firm selling lighting and furniture. Aino Aalto designed her glassware for every day use, and won a gold medal at the Milan Triennal 1932. The clean lines of the glass also lend itself to more formal use.
