ripple design and pad outdoor at ICFF

Ripple Design, in collaboration with PAD Outdoor, is pleased to announce that it will be exhibiting at booth #205 in this year’s Designboom Mart at the ICFF show in New York from May 17th to May 20th. In addition to Architectural projects (such as the Courtyard House which was recently featured in the TeNeues Publication Ecological Houses and in Dwell magazine) Thomas Robertson, Ripple Design’s Principal, has been working closely with Eli Alexander (founder of X-Large Clothing and long time collaborator from their days back at RISD) to create a line of outdoor furniture and accessories under the PAD Outdoor Brand. At ICFF, they will be showing some of their latest designs from their already-mades® series. These household accessories playfully transfigure everyday objects by adding new meanings and uses through industrial ingenuity, as described below by Eli Alexander:

In honor of this…honor…we are debuting two new items, an aluminum serving tray/fruit bowl and a porcelain flower vase. The serving tray has a stochastic perforated pattern that not only makes the tray lighter but also allows it to double as fruit bowl. You can load it up with fruit and run it under the tap to wash the fruit while the water drains out the perforations. The aluminum is bright dipped anodized and available in three colors. The Nuclear Planter borrows its form from the iconic cooling towers of the infamous 3 Mile Island nuclear power plant. A truly modern form, the hyperboloid’s beauty is mitigated by its sinister contextual connotations. We celebrate the complexity of life springing forth from that which is better known for destroying life. Our cute little vessel stands about 10 inches tall in unglazed porcelain with a protective high gloss glaze on the inside. from ripple design and pad outdoor at ICFF
